As quiet as it’s kept, Massachusetts has produced a ton of talent in the realm of R&B and Soul over the years. Whether it’s the work of New Edition or the stylings of JoJo, the Bay State has built a lineage of melodic tastemakers that spans multiple generations. As time has gone on, the sound of R&B has changed in various respects. Bringing a new flavor to the R&B pot in Massachusetts, Tyler Loyal brings his own look at how R&B and Hip-Hop can blend into one through his new track and visual, “2 AM (You Know).”
Co-produced by GRAMMY award-winning instrumentalist Diego Ave, “2 AM (You Know)” has a radio-friendly, after-hours feel that is punctuated by the Boston artist’s laid-back vocals. The final piece of the puzzle is Kelly Ford and Austin Gomez’s visual take on Tyler Loyal’s latest single. The video pans back and forth between Tyler Loyal overlooking the city of Los Angeles to spending intimate moments with that special someone.
“[You stayed down through the broke days. Baby, you would always make the time pass. You can never tell me no. [At] 2 a.m. on the dot, baby, call me. [I’ll] pull up to your spot at 2 o’clock if you want me,” he sings.
As the temperature rises and the sun comes out of hibernation, Tyler Loyal’s “2 AM (You Know)” is the perfect soundtrack for those late summer nights and late-night drives through the city. Check out the latest visual from Kelly Ford and Austin Gomez below.
