It’s no secret that the Club music that dominated playlists in New Jersey, Baltimore and Philadelphia for more than a decade has entered the mainstream zeitgeist. Whether it’s Drake dropping a song like “Sticky” or Lil’ Uzi Vert climbing the charts with “Just Wanna Rock,” artists are looking to Club producers and artists to help craft a track that fits them. While it has already made its way through Rap, it hasn’t necessarily crossed into R&B on a major level just yet. However, a New Jersey artist by the name of GROOVY is trying to change that.
Coming out of the Garden State, GROOVY has delivered a new track called “jersey luv.” Paying homage to his home state, the track blends together R&B, Pop and of course, Club, into one audible treat that allow his smooth vocals to serve as the icing on the cake.
“I have been so closed off. I have been so wound up. Tight,” he sings.
“Girl, it’s just been so long since I had some love at night. You make me feel alive. You take me out of my mind. I need you by my side.”
Hailing from New Jersey, GROOVY brings something new and fun to the intersection of R&B, House, Club and Pop. Check out the visuals for his new track, “jersey luv,” below.
