South African songstress Tyla has taken the next step along her path to music superstardom. On Monday, November 27, the singer’s breakout single, “Water,” jumped up to the tenth spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Not only does the song’s latest chart jump put her in the company of fellow entrants like Taylor Swift and Doja Cat, but it also marks the first time she has had a song travel that far north on the charts.
The success of “Water” and its subsequent remix with Travis Scott sets the stage for the singer’s debut album. Tyla has not set a release date just yet, but it is reportedly expected to arrive early next year. To get listeners for what is yet to come, she has already begun teasing the next single — “On and On.” The follow-up to “Water” is scheduled to drop on Friday, February 3 and pave the way for more music to come in the following weeks.
Elsewhere on the charts, Jack Harlow earned yet another number one hit with “Lovin’ On Me.” The track follows “First Class” and “Industry Baby” as his third number one hit. On the Billboard 200 chart, Drake’s For All The Dogs has returned to the top of the chart following the release of Scary Hours III. December is typically a quiet month for major releases, but Nicki Minaj, Tate McRae and a few others may test that theory.
