The Seattle Seahawks have released starting cornerback Tre Flowers after he requested it recently. He has been a starter in the NFL for four years and will likely find another team to play for fairly quickly. It is unclear exactly why he requested a release from the team, but Seattle decided to grant him what he wanted. The Seattle Seahawks currently have a 2-3 record and are facing down not having Russell Wilson anywhere from one month to two months. Seattle’s defense has not been a particularly strong unit so far this season.

The Seahawks have problems outside a starting cornerback including a massive quarterback problem with Russell Wilson down for a serious amount of time. It seems that Tre Flowers was not an ideal fit after spending seasons on the Seattle roster. Other names will fill in this season, but the team needs to address the defense this offseason. They aren’t going anywhere near the Playoffs without Russell Wilson this year.

Tre Flowers will likely find another NFL roster to call home fairly quickly. Starting level cornerbacks are hard to come by in the NFL and Flowers has the experience. There are several teams that could use more depth in the secondary this year. Flowers is young and can still carve out a role in the NFL.
