Tony Parker may be out for the remainder of the season due to a leg injury. The San Antonio Spurs announced following their game on Wednesday that Parker would undergo an MRI on Thursday. It’s being reported that the guard will miss the rest of the playoffs due to the injury and he will undergo surgery.
Parker suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Spurs’ game two win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. His left knee seemed to buckle as Parker jumped up for one of his patented floater attempts and he immediately collapsed to the floor and stayed there while action continued. Parker was seen pointing to his left knee without moving it as trainers tended to him and he was carried off the floor by teammates.

The injury comes at as terrible of a time as possible for Parker. The French point guard had seemingly found the fountain of youth, regaining his form in the playoffs after a disappointing regular season.
At nearly 35 years old, it’s unclear what this injury means for Parker’s future. He is under contract for one more season but it’s difficult to envision the former Finals MVP playing beyond that after such a major injury at this stage of his career.
The Spurs will look for more contributions from super sub-Patty Mills and perhaps rookie point guard Dejounte Murray.
