It has been quite the week so far for one Dallas Mavericks veteran. After putting up a career-high 42 points last Friday, Tim Hardaway Jr. has now tied a franchise record for made threes in a game. With his father’s number 10 jersey hanging in the rafters above him, Hardaway Jr., put on quite the shooting display by knocking down 10 three-pointers. This ties Wesley Matthews (2015) and George McCloud (1995) for most threes by a Mavericks player in a single game.
THJ would finish the game with 36-points, and he contributed to the offense alongside Luka Doncic all night last night. They combined for 59-points and 16 rebounds. Doncic had a double-double of points and rebounds.

The Miami Heat tried to keep up with the scoring output, but couldn’t. Even with six players in double-digits, including 14 points from Gabe Vincent in just 12 minutes, they couldn’t keep up. Andre Iguodala played 22 minutes and registered 2 assists with no points or rebounds. Bam Adebayo almost had a triple-double with 11 points, 11 assists, and 9 rebounds. The Heat were without Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro.
The Dallas Mavericks are currently locked in right now. They do not want to be guinea pigs for the NBA’s new play-in tournament and have played hard in an attempt to stop that from happening. Last night’s victory pushed the Mavs into 5th in the west just above the Lakers. They currently both sit at 37-28 with Dallas holding the tiebreaker. The Trail Blazers sit just a game behind both.
While some teams, like the Warriors, think that the Mavericks may be trying hard at the end of the season, this is why the NBA made these new rules. Encourage competitiveness and keep those non-playoff teams from just jogging the last 20 games of the season.
Dallas takes on the Brooklyn Nets at 7:30 PM EST Thursday, May 6th. With the highly talented Nets, the hard effort from the Mavericks could make for a great game. THJ might just set another career-high or set a new franchise record.
