Comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aida Rodriguez are teaming up to release a new series on HBO Max. The new show will be a half-hour comedy based on Rodriguez’s life. Rodriguez will both star in and write the series. Meanwhile, Haddish will produce through her production company, She Ready Productions. Chris Case and Nastaran Dibai will also add their expertise as writers for the series.
As descried by Deadline, the series “examines the struggle of an Afro-Latina comedian (Rodriguez) who is trying to kick start a career while raising two very different teenagers on her own over multiple time zones. ” Furthermore, “it is an uplifting story of survival and triumph in the face of a darkly funny Miami ghetto upbringing, where she learned skills that allowed her to thrive and survive.”
The duo previously worked together on the Netflix special, Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready. Rodriguez also frequently appears on The Young Turks.
