Los Angeles Lakers have filled out their roster heading into training camp. Earlier in the day, they signed veteran wingman Metta World Peace to a deal earlier in the day. Now it appears player #20 for their training camp roster has been found.
Thomas Robinson, who was looking to have a bounce-back season with the Brooklyn Nets in 2015-16, will be joining the Lakers.
Following from Shams Charania of The Vertical on Yahoo! Sports.
Free-agent forward Thomas Robinson has agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told The Vertical.
Robinson, 25, has been working out daily for the Lakers and plans to sign Thursday, sources said. The Lakers have 14 guaranteed salaries – with Yi Jianlian on a strong partial guarantee – giving Robinson an opportunity to make the regular-season roster.
The problem with the Robinson signing, as Charania pointed out, is the Lakers have a big slate of front court players already. Expected starters include Timofey Mozgov and Julius Randle with their backups expected to be Larry Nance Jr. newly re-signed Tarik Black and Ivica Zubac. For the final big man spot, four guys are going to go at it for a chance.
Besides Robinson and Yi the other bigs who will be competing for those finals spots include undrafted rookie Zach Auguste and Travis Wear. It will definetely be a competition to get that one spot on the Lakers.
