Uninterrupted and SpringHill Company have announced that they will no longer air an episode featuring Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Justin Tinsley of Andscape reports that Ye repeatedly spewed anti-semitic rhetoric during the taping, leading to SpringHill’s decision.
“Yesterday we taped an episode of The Shop with Kanye West. Kanye was booked weeks ago and, after talking to Kanye directly the day before we taped, I believed he was capable of a respectful discussion and he was ready to address all his recent comments. Unfortunately, he used The Shop to reiterate more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes,” SpringHill Company CEO Maverick Carter stated.
“We have made the decision not to air this episode or any of Kanye’s remarks. While The Shop embraces thoughtful discourse and differing opinions, we have zero tolerance for hate speech of any kind and will never allow our channels to be used to promote hate. I take full responsibility for believing Kanye wanted a different conversation and apologize to our guests and crew. Hate speech should never have an audience.”
This is not the first time that Ye has found himself in hot water for spewing anti-semitic rhetoric. Recently, his Twitter account was locked after he tweeted harmful remarks regarding the Jewish community. The Chicago native also faced backlash after sharing a number of harmful remarks in a FOX News interview with Tucker Carlson.
Meanwhile, The Shop will pivot back to its most recent episode. Maverick Carter and Paul Rivera sat down with LeBron James, Draymond Green, Lisa Leslie and P.J. Tucker. Check out the show below.
