If you are planning a trip to Puerto Rico do your tastebuds a favor and visit the The Luquillo kioskos. Luquillo is a town about 40-45 minutes from Carolina. To get to Luquillo, you can rent a car or take a cab from the airport which will run about $70-$80 one way.
The Kioskos are a strip of little restaurants located along the beach on Route 3. The buildings look old but they contain some of the most delicious food of all types, not just Puerto Rican! With so many options to choose from, I felt like I was at a food fair!
Our first stop was “The Ceviche Hut” #42 (they are named & numbered so it’s pretty easy to find). I ordered their mixed Ceviche and a Mojito. The ceviche was everything I expected and more. In my opinion, the perfect ceviche has tons of seafood but without an overbearing fishy taste, and the perfect amount of lime to it. Mojitos are usually a hit or miss, but they got it right here! The second meal we ordered was the Chicharron de Pollo with Yuca fries and a Piña Colada. They served the Chicharron and Yuca fries with two dipping sauces, I’m not sure which was meant for what, but I know whatever way you choose you can’t go wrong with either one!
Both meals were equally delicious! If you want to experience great food, with plenty of options to choose from, make sure you make pay the town of Luquillo a visit and head to the Kioskos! You won’t be disappointed.
