
Over the last few days, there has been an ongoing campaign to make old episodes of Making The Band available online. While the campaign has picked up a bit of steam, MTV has yet make any statement regarding the matter. With that being said, we may be making a step closer to getting Making The Band episodes online.
This morning, Viacom made an announcement regarding its latest acquisition, Pluto TV. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Viacom is planning to air some of its most classic shows available online through Pluto TV. Shows like The Hills and My Super Sweet 16 will be available online for free on Pluto TV. Other Viacom shows that will be added to the platform include Blue’s Clues and Dora The Explorer. In addition, Viacom properties such as BET, CMT, Comedy Central and VH1 will all have their own channels dedicated to throwback programming.
In a statement, Pluto TV CEO Tim Ryan wrote, “This is a major step forward in our mission of entertaining the planet.” He added, “Viacom has been entertaining audiences for decades with evergreen content that is bold, daring and inspires worldwide fandom.”
With the new acquisition of Pluto TV, Viacom Digital Studios expects its digital video impressions to reach 5 billion per month by 2020.
