
All good things must come to an end. Queen Sugar, Top Boy, Atlanta and several other series of the late 2010s are on the way to airing their final seasons. Now, it appears that The Handmaid’s Tale will add to that lengthy list. Hulu has announced that the critically-acclaimed series has been renewed for a sixth season. It will also be the show’s final season.
Hulu has decided to renew The Handmaid’s Tale for a sixth season as the show prepares to roll out its penultimate season. Season five of the hit series is set to begin on September 14, 2022 via Hulu.
“June faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose,” the fifth season’s description reads.
“The widowed Serena attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Nick and Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah.”
Elisabeth Moss, O-T Fagbenle and Madeline Brewer are set to return for the show’s next chapter. Max Minghella, O-T Fagbenle, Samira Wiley and Bradley Whitford will also appear in season five.
