Early box office projections for DC’s polarizing superhero film, The Flash, are in. According to a report from Jeremy Fuster of The Wrap, the film is expected to generate $75 million at the box office when it debuts in theaters. However, Fuster notes that projections may “increase as the film’s June 16 release date gets closer.”
If projections hold, The Flash will fall well short of the $134 million that The Batman brought in during its opening weekend. On the other hand, it would outperform the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson-led film, Black Adam. Released last year, it generated $67 million during its first weekend in theaters.
Compared to other 2023 films, a $75 million debut would fall in the middle of the pack. Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania brought in $105 million during its opening weekend. Similarly, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 brought in nearly $120 million at the box office during its first weekend in theaters. Meanwhile, Creed III brought in a record-breaking $58.3 million during its first weekend and Fast X earned less than $70 million during its opening.
On June 16, the film will have the potential to exceed or fall well short of box office projections. Until then, the trailer is available below.
