You know the old saying. All good things must come to an end. After three excitingly heart-wrenching chapters, the James Gunn-led Guardians of the Galaxy saga has come to a close. Rocket, Peter Quill, Groot, Drax and Mantis have gone their separate ways. As fans grapple with this reality, Dave Bautista, known to Marvel fans as Drax The Destroyer, issued a thank you letter to those that have supported him and his castmates along this journey.
“Every day, I say a little prayer for Drax. The role that changed my life. Forever grateful to the fans and my Guardians family. What a magical journey it’s been. Thank you for letting me be your Drax,” he tweeted.
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy is going out with a bang. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the final film of the trilogy earned $114 during its opening weekend in the U.S. and $28.1 million during its opening weekend in China. Globally, the film has brought in nearly $300 million during its debut.
“Guardians 3 certainly doesn’t lack for audience love; it earned an A CinemaScore and strong exit scores on PostTrak, and it’s already paying off. On Saturday morning, Marvel and Disney thought the movie might clear no more than $110 million for the weekend, but traffic was better than expected throughout Saturday and saw a bump over Friday,” THR‘s Pamela McClintock reports.
“If that trend continues, the threequel could enjoy a long run.”
