Former college basketball Head Coach and Athletic Director Terry Holland has passed away at the age of 80 years old. He was the Head Coach for both the Davidson Wildcats and the Virginia Cavaliers. Holland served as the athletic director in his career for the Davison Wildcats, Virginia Cavaliers, and East Carolina Pirates. His career in sports began in 1961 as a player for the Davidson Wildcats and spanned all the way to 2023 when he was the emeritus Atheltic Director for the East Carolina Pirates. A life dedicated to college basketball and sports.

As the Head Coach of the Davidson Wildcats and Virginia Cavaliers, Terry Holland had an overall record of 418-216. With Virginia, he led the team to an ACC record of 111-103 and while he was with Davidson he led the team to a Southern Conference record of 43-7. While the Head Cach of Virginia he led the program to an NIT Championship, four Elite Eights, and two Final Fours. He is considered one of the best coaches to be on the sidelines in the history of Virginia Cavaliers basketball.

The Virginia basketball program was largely defined by the career of Terry Holland and years later his work as an Athletic Director would further develop the sports program at the University. We here at Def Pen Sports have his family, friends, and colleagues in our thoughts at this time.
