I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Taika Waititi might be the busiest man in Hollywood right now.
He’s got Jojo Rabbit hitting theaters in about a month, he’s writing Thor: Love and Thunder right now, AND he recently signed on for a secret Fox Searchlight project set to film in between the other two. Now, he could be adding even more according to Deadline.
The actor/director extraordinaire is reportedly in final talks to join James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. It’s unclear what role Waititi would play if he does join the film. And, considering Gunn’s film will be a full reboot after that 2016 trainwreck, there’s no way even field a guess. Seriously, Gunn has hinted that Polka-Dot Man could be a major part of the film. So, there’s absolutely no way to predict what might happen.
Gunn was handed the reigns to DC’s team of villains with hearts of gold after being wrongfully dropped from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Fans were upset but nonetheless excited to see Gunn’s unique sensibilities applied to the Suicide Squad. Luckily, he was later reinstated on Guardians Vol. 3 and will, incredibly, helm both films.
The Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 6th, 2021.
