Tag you’re it! Le’Veon Bell becomes the third player to get hit with the franchise tag this offseason. Pittsburgh has decided to use the Exclusive Franchise Tag on Bell. ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the news.
Steelers have placed franchise tag on RB Le’Veon Bell, per source.

Bell, 25, has averaged 128.7 career scrimmage yards per game. That mark is the most of any player during the first 4 years in the league. This is the first time since 2012 that a running back has been franchise tagged since 2012 when both Matt Forte and Ray Rice were tagged. As of now, the projected tag number is expected to be $12 million but that number can change. The franchise tag is based on the top 5 salaries per position. If Adrian Peterson gets released, that number will drop to around $8 million making this a bargain rate for the Steelers.
Over the course of just 12 games in 2016, Le’Veon Bell ran for 1,268 yards on 261 carries. He also added 616 receiving yards as well. For the rest of possible franchise tag
