Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic will not seem to end and new cases are popping up each and every minute. As a result, businesses are closing, mask mandates are being reinstituted and large gatherings are being canceled. With all that is going on, it’s nice to get to a break from the hardships emerging around us. To help us all out, Sprite has launched a new concert series called “Live From The Label.”
“Live From The Label” is taking virtual concerts to the next level. Last month, the three-part series kicked off with a performance from Latto. In the coming days, Sprite will feature rising artists like Ryan Trey and ChloTheGod along with superstars Jack Harlow and Saweetie. Leading the charge, Sprite has enlisted some pretty big names to host the virtual summer festival. Each live performance will feature cultural connoisseur Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins, Generation Now‘s DJ Drama, Power 105.1‘s Nyla Simone and Sprite’s Aaliyah Shafiq Ely. Together, the group hopes to use this series as an opportunity to highlight the next wave of creatives that will not only change music, but also revolutionize branding, marketing, entertainment and much more.
“I definitely look for people who have vision and who have passion and can kind of see down the line,” DJ Drama said when asked about what he looks for in a new artist.
“When I first met [Lil] Uzi [Vert], I remember one of the first things he told me was, ‘Yo, I’m gonna be more famous than you’ and I remember being like, ‘I hope so. If not, I failed.’”
DJ Drama has worked with the best of the best and helped propelled the career of one of the “Live From The Label” acts. Only time will tell if one of these acts can surpass him. DJ Drama, Brandon Jenkins, Nyla Simone and Aaliyah Shafiq Ely will check out these talented acts on August 12 at 7:30 p.m. and again on August 18. All performances can be viewed here.
