The Pelicans’ injury troubles have been significant in recent seasons, and their luck doesn’t appear to be getting any better. The team confirmed ESPN’s report shortly after it was published, and estimates it will Hill take six-to-eight months of rehab.
The team states Hill suffered a proximal hamstring tear in his left leg.
Hill, a projected starter this season, will be entering his second year with the Pelicans. He averaged seven points and 3.8 rebounds in 29.7 minutes per game last season, starting in 71 of 80 games.
It’s unclear how much of the season Hill would miss, or how the Pelicans plan to fill his absence. Hill, 26, signed a four-year, $48 million contract to join the Pelicans in the summer of 2016.
