Snoop Dogg dropped a major bombshell during a recent interview with Rolling Stone. While speaking to the famed music publication, the west coast legend revealed that Dr. Dre is working on music for an iconic video game franchise.
“I do know he’s in the studio,” Snoop Dogg said.
“I do know he’s making great fucking music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game.”
Rockstar Games have been active in recruiting established acts to create music for the Grand Theft Auto series. DJ Green Lantern curated tracks for The Beat 102.7 in Grand Theft Auto IV. In Grand Theft Auto V, The Alchemist and Oh No put together the original score.
Also, Dr. Dre has appeared in Grand Theft Auto before. During the Cayo Perico Heist mission in GTA V Online, Dr. Dre appears alongside Jimmy Iovine and DJ Pooh. Before disappearing, the producer mentions that his phone with “a lot of f*cking music” was stolen. Maybe, that stolen phone’s contents could end up on the next Grand Theft Auto release.
Snoop Dogg’s full comments on Dr. Dre’s upcoming work will be available via Rolling Stone Music Now on November 3.
