New York’s Smoke DZA has returned with a new project called Homegrown. The 11-track project comes complete with features from Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Jadakiss, Big K.R.I.T, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Jayy Grams, Dom Kennedy, Eric Bellinger and Jack Harlow. Tish Hyman, Flipp Dinero, Girl Talk, Jay 305, Eddie Cole and NymLo also hopped on the project.
Homegrown is led by the New York affair, “Hibachi,” with Flipp Dinero. Released last month, the record is assisted by the Harlem centric video.
“The energy at the video shoot was really high. I shot it in my old neighborhood (in Harlem) in front of the deli I used to go to as a kid that’s not there anymore so it was symbolic,” Smoke DZA said.
“We had Philippe on set, so the energy was really good that day.”
As for the record, the New York native was equally pleased with the trio’s chemistry. The three previously worked together on records like “Praying For My Soul” and “Mileston” with Pete Rock.
“I really like the chemistry with me and Flip. We bounce off of each other well,” he said.
“And Jadakiss is one of the architects of my rap style so to have that record come out the way it came out is really dope.”
