Shareef O’Neal, son of Shaquille O’Neal, and UCLA basketball commit has been cleared to begin basketball activities again. The young forward had to undergo heart surgery back in December of 2018. The surgery was thankfully a success, but the freshman at UCLA had to sit out this season while recovering. There was a possibility that Shareef may have not been able to return to the game of basketball.
The UCLA basketball program will finally be able to see O’Neal don a uniform next season. Shareef was a Top-35 recruit coming out of high school. He originally committed to Arizona, but flipped to UCLA after the College Basketball FBI Scandal opened up. He was a consensus 4-star recruit and had offers from almost every school in the country before signing with UCLA.
Shareef took to Twitter to announce his return to basketball. He, rightfully so, seemed to be in good spirits and excited to get back to the sport.

Always a fan of Dragon Ball Z, Shareef compared his photo, which shows him hooked up to different wires and tubes, to a famous scene of main character ‘Goku’ recovering from his injury. Shareef committed to UCLA back in February of 2018. What is the next move for Shareef after this announcement some might ask? He also let Twitter know exactly where he was going when he got home.
