Arizona men’s basketball head coach Sean Miller has found himself on the sharpest edge of the NCAA’s latest corruption scandal.
Reports recently dropped that a plethora of high level players from prestigious college basketball programs had received large amounts of pay from an agency company known as ASM Sports, by a man named Christian Dawkins.
While notable names such as Dennis Smith Jr, Markelle Fultz, Bam Adebayo, Miles Bridges, Collin Sexton, Wendell Carter and others were linked to the investigation and received large sums of money, none of those scenarios have yet to be linked back to the schools they played for. However, Arizona is not so fortunate in this regard.
An FBI wiretap found phone conversations between Sean Miller and Christian Dawkins reveals that Miller organized for star center DeAndre Ayton to be paid $100,000 to ensure his commitment to Arizona.
What this inevitably means is that Miller’s tenure at Arizona will likely be over very soon. He’s already missing the Wildcats matchup against Oregon on Saturday night. Further details and repercussions will be revealed when the time comes, and until then it is on the university whether to keep Miller and Ayton with the team for the time being.
