Shaquille O’Neal is about to become a content creator. According to Deadline, the former NBA-Superstar has signed a co-production deal with Back Roads Entertainment. Under the deal, O’Neal will be developing both scripted and unscripted content.
Developing alongside his partner Michael Parris through their Jersey Legends production banner, O’Neal’s first priority will be developing gameshows. He’ll also be focused on other family-friendly comedies and dramas at first. O’Neal and Parris will serve as executive producers on everything they develop alongside Back Roads founder Colby Gaines.
O’Neal’s focus on gameshows and family-friendly content makes sense considering much of his brand has been geared towards that audience. He previously hosted Shaq’s Big Challenge and Shaq Vs on ABC. And who can forget that Aaron Carter BANGER, ‘That’s How I Beat Shaq,’ released in 2001 with O’Neal’s permission.
O’Neal released a statement signaling his excitement for the deal. “I’m happy to be teaming up with Back Roads Entertainment. This partnership is big and that’s how I like to do things…big. Get ready for some incredible content.”
