Personally, it’s always a pleasure to come across new artists. It’s even more exciting when you become a fan of the final creative products these artists have worked hard to put out to the world. Up next, in an on-going string of highlighting new artist, is Raleigh, North Carolina’s Sean Kyd. Taking place over the weekend, the rapper unleashed his brand new Elevated EP, alongside an accompanying visual.
Elevated serves as the debut body of work that Sean Kyd has made available for the masses. Composed of 7 records, the EP taps into a distinctive and noticeable dark but experimental sound across the course of each record that appears on the EP. Simple at times, but also thought provoking with jarring lyricism at other points, Sean Kyd’s Elevated holds true to the notion of there’s something for everyone within the work of art as a whole. Often looked down upon in some aspects of Hip-Hop, and particularly with newer and/or underground acts with a loyal following, making radio-friendly music can be viewed as a “selling out” point. In Sean’s favor, some of Elevated‘s cuts would not have a hard time fitting right in with the current wave of Hip-Hop’s current experimentation. From the piano-driven ‘Kylluminati,’ to the EDM-heavy ‘It Factor,’ Sean Kyd’s debut serves as a great introduction of just who he is as an artist for current and future listeners. Surely, just the beginning for the rapper, listen to the Elevated EP, below. Also, you can check out his a visual to ‘Indominus,’ which also finds itself a home of the EP.
