The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an investigation into the highly-publicized altercation between Quavious “Quavo” Marshall and Diamonté “Saweetie” Harper. The incident in question reportedly took place last year in Saweetie’s apartment complex. The 90-second video shows the former couple fighting over what appears to be an orange briefcase. While the two are outside of the elevator, the California native appears to swing at Marshall. From there, Quavo appears to grab Saweetie and pull her in the elevator along with the orange case. She appears to fall to the ground as Quavo looks up to the elevator camera, not offering assistance to his fallen significant other.
After the video was shared on TMZ, it began to trend on Twitter and be shared across Instagram. Not long after the video was shared with the public, the two shared statements regarding the matter.
“This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on. I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time,” Saweetie told NBC News.
“We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned and moved on from. I haven’t physically abused Saweetie and have real gratitude for what we did share overall,” Quavo told People.
At this time, it is unclear how far along the LAPD is in their investigation. Furthermore, it is unclear what the LAPD is particularly focusing on in this specific matter. More details will be added to this report as they become available.
