Oh how I would love a day in my name. Where just you are celebrated. It’s like a second birthday but on a much larger scale. A man can dream.
Fortunately for recently retired Tim Duncan, he doesn’t have to dream because it is going to be a reality. Mayor of San Antonio Ivy Taylor is going to declare July 21st “Tim Duncan Day”.
“Tim may not be comfortable with all the attention, but I do think he deserves it,” Taylor said. “Besides being one of the greatest players of all time, he’s also an outstanding role model. He taught us how to work hard, win and remain humble.“
“He truly fits the definition of champion, and what better way to honor our most decorated champion than by declaring July 21 as Tim Duncan Day? It will allow fans everywhere to show him just how much he means to us, to our city and to the sports world,” Taylor said.
Man most people would get a street named after them or get a statue outside their respective arena, this guy is getting a whole day where the city of San Antonio will mark it as a city-wide holiday. He’s even going to get a hashtag to cover social media with pictures and jerseys of Duncan. They really love this guy.
