Film moguls Benny and Josh Safdie have signed a two year first-look deal with HBO. Through this deal, the Safdie’s production front, Elara Pictures, will produce content for the premium channel. Joining the Safdies, A24 will executive produce all content Elara Pictures creates for HBO.
Prior to joining HBO, Elara Pictures had a run in which they produced Adam Sandler’s Uncut Gems and Good Time starring Robert Pattinson. A24 has also had recent success with HBO by producing their recent hit drama series, Euphoria.
This deal comes on the heels of the launch of HBO Max. The premium network will debut their latest stand alone streaming service on May 27, 2020. HBO Max will feature more than 10,000 hours of content including HBO series, Warner Bros. films and original releases.
