The Miami Dolphins have traded quarterback Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans. In return for Tannehill and a 2019 sixth-round pick, the Dolphins will receive a 2020 fourth-round pick and a 2019 seventh-round pick. Since being drafted by the Dolphins in 2012, Tannehill has only one playoff appearance, a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2016-2017 wildcard round that he missed due to injury.
Tannehill’s representative agency SportsTrust Advisors announced the trade via Twitter.

The Dolphins, like many of their fans, have spent much of Tannehill’s career deciding whether or not he was good enough to be the franchise quarterback that would make them a winning team. That process became more difficult in recent years as Tannehill missed 24 games in his last three seasons with Miami. Moving on from the quarterback cues the change into rebuild mode for the Dolphins.
As for the Titans, Tannehill will be an experienced backup for the often injured Marcus Mariota. Mariota has failed to play in all 16 games since being drafted in 2015. While not missing many games a season, Mariota is often questionable and less than one hundred percent. The trade provides depth at the most important position on the team as well and another opportunity for the former Dolphin to prove himself as a winning quarterback.
