RUMOR: Knicks And Rockets Discussing Potential Harden-For-Carmelo Swap
The New York Knicks must consider their contingency options if their superstar and free agent Carmelo Anthony does elect to leave and play elsewhere. The Houston Rockets are knowingly in pursuit of a third piece to establish a prominent ‘Big 3’ template in Houston. The two teams, according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, are discussing a blockbuster deal to appease each other’s desires.
As stated by Broussard during a radio segment, the Knicks and Rockets could agree upon a deal that would swap out Carmelo Anthony and James Harden, sending Anthony to Houston and Harden to the Big Apple. For New York, this has contingency written all over it, but for Houston, a larger agenda could be in the works.
It’s no secret that LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony might be looking to team up, and the Houston Rockets just might have the space to host both guys if they were to trade Harden. That, plus dumping the salaries of Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik would presumably give the Rockets the cap space to throw money at both Carmelo and LeBron in free agency, which officially begins on July 1.
Both of these teams are in the mix for drastic adjustments. Stay tuned for what comes next.
