7-time all-star, Carmelo Anthony, to opt-out of his deal with the New York Knicks. Frank Isola from New York Daily news tweeted,
@FisolaNYDN: A person close to Carmelo Anthony confirms that Melo, as expected, will inform Knicks on Monday that he’s opting out. “One hundred percent.”
This means Carmelo Anthony will be an unrestricted free Agent, free to sign with any team he chooses this summer. The first domino has officially fallen. This is a move that will with a doubt begin a ripple affect throughout the league.
Carmelo is coming off a season in which he averaged 27.4 Points per game and 8.1 rebounds to accompany the scoring load. Whichever team is looking for a top tier scorer, great athlete and a solid leader should look no further than Carmelo.
