Nearly two years after delivering his debut LP, I Thought It’d Be Different, Rory Farrell returned with the first single, “Who Are You Anyway?” featuring Leon Thomas.
Released through Avant Garden Records, the fast-paced production of the new single is “certainly a departure from the last album,” as the R&B-inclined podcaster explains, but lyrically falls in the same introspective family as much of his first album.
“‘Who Are You Anyway?’ represents the lack of clarity we have within ourselves and others; when we don’t ask the questions that we know will have uncomfortable answers,” Rory said.
As for Leon Thomas, the single continues his run as one of the fastest-rising names in R&B. In the last two years, he’s delivered two full-length projects, Mutt and Electric Dusk. Not to be forgotten, he worked on Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s Vultures, SZA’s SOS, and Kiana Ledé’s Grudges. With Mutt up for GRAMMY consideration next February, a spot at Bonnaroo, and much more set up for 2025, the upcoming year could be his best yet.
“Leon Thomas is by far one of the greatest talents we have in R&B today, it was humbling and an absolute honor to work with him and be a part of his already incredible legacy,” Rory added.
“Who Are You Anyway?” featuring Leon Thomas is available today, and the album is expected later this year.
