Certainly, this time last year, majority of us wouldn’t have been able to predict that the 2020 music festival circuit would be nonexistent. Being hit hard due COVID-19’s worldwide spread, festivals like Roots Picnic have found themselves revamping, if not completely postponing to 2021.
Originally slated to take place on May 30, moved to August 1, and now waiting for a 3rd rescheduling, all isn’t lost for Roots Picnic. While a new date is to be determined for live showings, a virtual experience will be taking place on Saturday, June 27! Teaming up with Michelle Obama and her When We All Vote nonprofit organization, the power of music and more will prevail.
Shifting the focus to encourage viewers to exercise their right, the 13th Annual Roots Picnic virtual experience will be backed by the likes of SZA, Lil Baby, H.E.R., Kirk Franklin, Snoh Aalegra and more with performances. Michelle Obama, Kerry Washington, Janelle Monae and other notable names are slated to make appearances, as well.
Hosted by Questlove, Black Thought, and Michelle Obama, a good time and important information will be gelled all into one. Be sure to tune on on June 27 at 8 PM EST.
