Williams, drafted 27th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, is the latest move from the Celtics’ new general manager Brad Stevens. Some familiar faces like Al Horford and Enes Kanter returned to the team and Marcus Smart, also, got a contract extension to stay in Boston longterm.
In his three years with the Celtics, he’s shown flashes as a rim protector, averaging 1.5 blocks per game, and also a threat around the basket with a career 72% from the floor. However, injuries have a constant, and Williams has only played 113 regular-season games in three seasons.
In his last season with the Celtics, he averaged 8.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 18.9 minutes per game.
