Robert Downey Jr.’s reign as Iron Man continues. Recently Kevin Fiege talked about Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot and het let a cat out of the bag, saying since Spider-Man is apart of the MCU, Avengers can appear in his film and vice versa. Last week, Downey appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! talking about the upcoming MCU movie, Captain America: Civil War which Spider-Man will be apart of. Kimmel tried to see if Downey would spill the beans on his role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but Downey downplayed it saying “we don’t have a contract”. Now THR has reported that there is a contract and Downey has been added to the cast for Homecoming.
In the comics, Spider-Man has a close relationship with Captain America and Iron Man, with the latter making Spidey his own Iron Spider suit. Since Civil War will be Spider-Man’s introduction into the MCU and those relationships won’t be as strong as they are in the comics, the suit won’t be seen just yet. Civil War is said to build Tony Stark and Peter Parker’s bond which will lead to Tony’s appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming releasing in 2017.
