On Tuesday, the Washington Wizards hosted a draft workout, which included NCAA tournament hero, R.J. Hunter, who is best known for his game winning shot against Baylor. Shooting is what the former Georgia State is best known for, but he believes he should be known as much more than just a shooter.
Following From Washington Post.
“I’ve never been just a shooter. That’s just been my main strength,” said Hunter, a two-time Sun Belt player of the year. “I think naturally I just go in and show I can make plays. There are a lot of teams every time I leave a workout say we didn’t know you could pass like that. I don’t think they’re looking for me to do anything else. I just kind of be myself and when I start doing that I show my game and it shows.”
The Wizards could use Hunter off the bench for some additional scoring from both the guard and wing positions, especially if he is the playmaker he believes he can be.
Hunter could have a huge advantage once he makes the move to the NBA considering teams are going to look at him as just a shooter. Every basketball fan saw his game winner in the NCAA tournament and know him for that shot, but not everybody has seen other skills. Teams may be more prepared than fans, but these hidden talents could push Hunter’s game to another level.
It is not totally clear where Hunter will be drafted, but if he slides to 19 and Bobby Portis is off the board, he could find a home in Washington. Wizards fans, you only have to wait a little bit longer to see who will be spending a while in DC.
