Though he has shown to already be quite the journeyman just seven years into his NBA career, point guard Shelvin Mack has proven capable of producing in a minimal role off the bench.
With their guard rotation looking rather thin, the Memphis Grizzlies have decided to take a flyer on the former second-round pick. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Mack has agreed to a one-year deal with Memphis.

Though the Grizzlies expect starting point guard Mike Conley to return at full strength this season, his primary backup could use an upgrade from the likes of Andrew Harrison and Briante Weber.
Tyreke Evans was responsible for a good portion of Memphis’ playmaking last season but following his signing with the Pacers, the Grizzlies bench lacked a floor general. Mack showed the ability to serve as a solid distributor this past season with the Orlando Magic, averaging a shade under four assists in less than 20 minutes of playing time.
Orlando was Shelvin Mack’s fifth destination after being drafted by the Washington Wizards in 2011. Since then, the Butler product has suited up for the 76ers, Hawks, and Jazz. Mack will come to Memphis hoping to add a different element off the bench to an intriguing Grizzlies roster.
