The speed at which the dynamic of the NBA changes is merciless. During the summer, you could take a nap and wake up to find out Derrick Rose is on the New York Knicks, or that Jeff Teague has been traded to his hometown of Indiana, and that’s the best part of the NBA offseason. The Philadelphia 76ers are change their own dynamic, as they are looking to shake things up with their young core.
Before Teague had been sent to Indiana yesterday, there were reports that the 76ers were looking to trade for the former All-Star point guard, and with Teague out of the equation, the hunt continues for a starting point guard continues. According to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express:
The 76ers were involved in trade discussions for both George Hill and Jeff Teague up until the very last minute. In the market for vet PG.

The 76ers are looking to change the fortunes of a franchise who has been at the bottom of the barrel since about 2011, and with the #1 pick they hope to do that. With reports that Ben Simmons unanimously getting drafted with the first selection, the 76ers talent is starting to show some true potential. With a stacked front court of Nerlens Noel, Jahil Okafor, and Joel Embiid, you’ve got to think one of those players will be involved in a trade for a veteran point guard. There were already reports that Noel or Okafor could either land in New Orleans, with a trade centered around the Pelicans 6th pick, but nothing transpired. If the 76ers were to nab another top-8 pick, which is what they are reportedly trying to do, then they can draft one of the young and elite point guards in this year’s draft, like Jamaal Murray or Kris Dunn. If not, looking for the 76ers to actively shop around for a savvy point guard to add to their roster.
