Reese Witherspoon and her production company, Hello Sunshine, are taking on a new challenge in the content space. The actress and her production company are teaming up with AT&T’s DirecTV, DirecTV Now and U-Verse to create a Hello Sunshine subscription channel. The subscription channel will launch July 17th with an unscripted series called Shine On With Reese and continue on September 4th with a documentary series called Master of the Mess. The channel will run on DirecTV’s channel 1112 for subscribers at $10 per month for the first three months. After the three month discounted price, the channel will be available for subscribers at a price of $35 per month.
In celebration of the new deal, Hello Sunshine CEO, Sarah Harden said, “AT&T was one of our first partners in the quest to bring female-centric storytelling to the forefront and we are especially proud of how these original series push that mission ahead.” Harden added, “We’re looking forward to working with AT&T to develop more opportunities for women to see themselves and their stories reflected in entertainment.”
Witherspoon added to Harden’s statements by saying, “I am thrilled to have such like-minded, creative collaborators at AT&T to help Hello Sunshine pursue our mission of elevating and showcasing the voices of women that we have such admiration and respect for.” Witherspoon also noted, “I am so excited for the world to experience the stories from our partnership with AT&T, which are set to be equal parts entertaining, inspiring, thought-provoking and unabashedly real.”
While Hello Sunshine prepares for the launch of the VOD channel, the production company will also be working on season two of HBO’s Big Little Lies, Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere and three shows at Apple, including a morning show drama in which Witherspoon plays opposite Jennifer Aniston.
