Reason is ready to embark on the next chapter of his career. After parting ways with his record label, Top Dawg Entertainment, the Carson, California native is making plans to release new music in the near future.
“I’m literally putting the final touches of a project right now. Then, I also have another project that’s probably 75% done that I’m putting final touches on also,” he told Gina Views and DJ Hed of Sirius XM’s Effective Immediately.
“Yeah, I’m trying to drop two [projects] this year.”
Not only is Reason planning to drop two projects before the end of the year, but he is also working on a joint project with fellow California native Cozz.
“I’m trying to get one out in the next 45 [days]. Then, right before the end of the year is up, [I’ll drop another project],” he added in a separate interview with Real 92.3’s Bootleg Kev.
“[Then, I’ll] spin the block. [Cozz and I have] our project, so we’ll get that out at the top of the year. It’s like 80% done.”
Reason didn’t specify when or if he’ll sign another deal with a major record label. However, he did explain that freedom is the most important thing to his career at the moment.
“[There’s] just so many things that I’ve been wanting to do that I haven’t necessarily been able to do given the situation,” he explained to DJ Hed and Gina Views.
“Before I was signed, that’s what I did. I was outside every single week. I was [doing] freestyles, projects, release parties, merch, etc. I just want to get back on that. I see a lot of people asking where I’m going or signing. I don’t know exactly what situation I’m going to fall into, but I know I’m not falling into [any] situation that [doesn’t] give me ultimate freedom.”
