Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta is hoping to make his return to the field this fall. Pitta is recovering from his second hip fracture in back to back seasons.
“I feel good. But obviously it’s a process,” Pitta told the team’s official website. “I have an idea in mind of where I’d like to be in a couple months, but at the same time you don’t know. I know what it felt like to do this (rehab) one time. I’ve never known what it felt like to do it twice.”
The return of Pitta can only be considered a luxury at this point as nothing can be expected from Pitta’s return as these injuries are often considered career threatening. Pitta’s contract is fully guaranteed so he has the necessary time to heal on his own without potentially being released. With the selection of Maxx Williams, the return of Pitta could give Baltimore on of the scariest tight end duos in the league.
“I knew I would make an attempt to come back,” Pitta said. “This is what I love to do. Injuries are part of this game and you have to try to overcome them the best you can. You always want to leave this game on your own terms.”
