eason two of Issa Rae’s comedy, Rap Sh!t, will not debut next Thursday as previously scheduled. Instead, the premiere of the show’s sophomore season is tentatively slated for November 9. According to a report from Rick Porter of The Hollywood Reporter, the decision to delay the show’s sophomore season for three months “serves two purposes” for MAX. First, it gives the streaming platform more content to unload in the fall if the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes continue. Second, it allows the cast and crew an opportunity to promote the second season if a deal is reached before November.
Regardless of when the show returns, the second season of Rae’s comedy will follow the lives of emerging rappers, Shawna and Mia, “as they come to a pivotal moment in their career, where they must decide if they will stay true to themselves or conform to the demands of the music industry.”
Aida Osman and KaMillion will reprise their leading roles in season two. Jonica Booth, RJ Cyler and Daniel Augustin will also reprise their key roles in the MAX series. Not to mention, Jacob Romero and Kyle Bary are expected to join the show.
