Queen & Slim starring Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya debuts this November with a star-studded official soundtrack including Megan Thee Stallion, EARTHGANG, Vince Staples and more.
The film tells the story of an Ohio couple who’s first date turns into an unexpected, life-altering journey. Enlisting the talents of GRAMMY-winning director Melina Matsoukas and Emmy winning writer Lena Waithe, Queen & Slim debuts in theaters November 27 following a premiere at AFI Fest in Los Angeles November 14.
Featuring a range of genres and sounds, the official soundtrack for Queen & Slim intentionally showcases the range of Black music and talent. The 17-track project includes brand new songs from Megan Thee Stallion, Lauryn Hill, Lil Baby, Vince Staples featuring 6lack, Mereba, EARTHGANG and Teyana Major9, Coast Contra featuring BJ The Chicago Kid, and Syd.
Motown Records President Ethiopia Habtemariam, Waithe and Matsoukas serve as executive producers.
“I wanted the soundtrack for Queen & Slim to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul, to modern bounce, hip hop and R&B – much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the 90s. We partnered with Motown because of their legacy within Black music. I am honored to have worked beside Ethiopia and cannot wait for audiences to hear what each artist has created.” says Matsoukas in an official statement.
Alongside the new songs, classic sounds from Roy Ayers, Bilal, Mike Jones and more are also on the Motown Records soundtrack. The film is scored by Blood Orange, also featured on the soundtrack.
Released ahead of the soundtrack and film, new Motown Records signee Tiana Major9 and Atlanta rap duo EARTHGANG’s collaboration Collide features a London shot video.
