The Big Bang Theory is gearing up for its last goodbye later this month. Tuesday, the cast and crew said their FIRST goodbyes though as the show wrapped filming on its final episode.
The cast and crew’s goodbyes were expectedly emotional. “This is a dream come true for all of us,” said a teary-eyed Johnny Galecki. “You’ve been the best fans for 12 years. You are a part of a family, and we love you very much” He then called Kaley Cuoco out to address the fans in attendance. She shared a tidbit that series creator Chuck Lorre told the cast during their table read. “The Big Bang Theory will live on in our hearts forever. It’s so sweet and simple, and it’s so true.”
That may seem a little cheesy, especially if you (like me) never quite bought into The Big Bang Theory. But, the series has defined the TV landscape for over a decade now, and that is definitely worth celebrating. When next fall rolls around, there will be a sizeable ‘Bazinga’ shaped gap in the Thursday night schedule.
“The Big Bang Theory will live on in our hearts forever. It’s so sweet and simple, and it’s so true.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, the finale is set to drop a couple of big reveals that no one’s expecting. But, that’s all we know about the finale plot-wise. So, until then just know that when the finale airs on May 16th, it will be a two-parter with a ‘farewell special’ following the episode. Check out Def Pen’s breakdown of what to expect from that special here.
The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS.
