Predicting the 2021 AFC Division Winners

The AFC has been hard to pin down this year and each of the top teams has faced upsets this year. Predicting the favorite teams in the Super Bowl to bet on is no easy task in the AFC this year. Each AFC contender has problems, but they also show promise on the field. Winning the division means at least one home game and that could be the difference-maker in a tough playoff game. The AFC is a minefield right now and each week’s matchups are hard to predict. Here we will predict the 2021 AFC Division Winners.

AFC West

Kansas City Cheifs

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Cheifs have seemingly figured out their problems on the field. Winning can cure plenty of problems and momentum is a real thing. The turnover problem isn’t completely gone, but the defense has stepped up and won some games. Betting against the Cheifs to beat out the Raiders, Chargers, and Broncos would be unwise.

While those teams started out hot they are trending down now. The Cheifs are trending up and have found ways to win games by any means necessary. While they may win the AFC West it is hard to pin down this team when they match up with teams in the Playoffs. Patrick Mahomes will always give this team a chance to win games. Kansas City will be one of the 2021 AFC Division Winners.

AFC South

Tennessee Titans

The Titans are an enigma this season with wins over the Bills, Rams, and Cheifs. They also hold losses to the Jets and Texans. Losing Derrick Henry for the season hurts, but this team has a special advantage baked into the rest of their season. They have already beaten the Indianapolis Colts in both of their divisional matchups. The Titans just need to stay ahead of the Colts and they have the AFC South locked up.

This is literally the Titans division to lose this season. Even without Derrick Henry, this team has a dynamic offense and defense. The losses to the Jets and Texans are baffling, but hopefully just flukes in a weird season. Ryan Tannehill will have to step up and win the team these games in the closing stretch. Tennessee will be one of the 2021 AFC Division Winners.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens

2021 NFL Power Rankings
Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson ( Vincent Carchietta – USA TODAY Sports )

As long as Lamar Jackson is healthy the Ravens look like the best team in the AFC North. The Bengals don’t look quite ready to win the division, but the young team is tending up heading into future seasons. Pittsburgh and Cleveland both currently look like sinking ships, but they aren’t out of the fight.

The Ravens run game remains dynamic with Lamar Jackson and whoever else is in the backfield with him. A major concern is actually the injury-riddled defense. Baltimore plays most games close, but has continued to find ways to win this season. Jackson is the difference maker and with him, on the field, the Ravens will have a chance to win almost any game. Baltimore will be one of the 2021 AFC Division Winners.

AFC East

Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen

The AFC East is a tight battle right now between the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots. Buffalo has showcased some weaknesses in recent weeks with an unthinkable loss to the Jaguars and a blowout loss to the red hot Colts. New England on the other hand has won decisively in five straight games. These two teams still play each other twice this year and those games should decide the AFC East.

Josh Allen is the better and more experienced quarterback and in the NFL that means a lot. Both teams have top-tier defenses and that could be a problem for rookie quarterback Mac Jones. While this prediction is the hardest to determine, the Bills are built to win on defense. Questions about the run game aside, this team is capable of winning the AFC East. Buffalo will be one of the 2021 AFC Division Winners.
