This weekend, Pharrell is bringing the best and brightest names in music to Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C. for the 2022 Something In The Water Festival. Usher, Justin Timberlake and SZA are just a few of the names listed on the bill, but the focus won’t simply be placed on music. Pharrell and company are still doing their part to shine a bright light on the leaders of tomorrow.
Hours before the gates of the 2022 Something In The Water Festival let the first fans on Independence Avenue, Pharrell and company met up at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, D.C. While there, Pharrell and the NAACP hosted a special event honoring five special student leaders making change around the country. To their surprise, the legendary producer and the civil rights organization made the move to pay off their college debt. As one would expect, this brought some excitement to the room.
“Pharrell forever changed their lives. This was a powerful moment,” Wisdom Cole of the NAACP told The Hill.
“Now just imagine if President Biden made this a reality for all student debt holders in America. Student debt continues to disproportionately plague the Black community and crush opportunities for so many Black people. It is time to reduce the racial wealth gap, it is time for President Biden to fulfill his promise.”
While millions wait for President Biden to fulfill his promise and cancel student debt for all, Pharrell and friends will put on a show during day two of this year’s Something In The Water Festival.
