R&B artist Parisalexa drops her newest song “Chocolate” with a matching fun music video.
In what she calls a “celebration of melanin” Parisalexa uses “Chocolate” to empower Black women and men in standing proudly in their skin-tone. The song is the first single from her upcoming album 2 Real.
The song features a catchy hook and Parisalexa’s soothing vocals. With “Chocolate” Parisalexa not only celebrates the beauty of Blackness, but she also reminds listeners that the inherited allure cannot be commodified.
“I wrote this song based on how I feel when I look in the mirror. I love my blackness and all the richness of culture tied to my brown skin and it deserves to be sung about. It took a long time for me to be confident in all that I am, so this is a toast to all my sisters and brothers who have arrived at the same peak. No matter where we go in life, we came from the motherland.” says Parisalexa in a provided statement.
The 21-year-old artist goes on tour with Xavier Omar this winter across the West Coast.. Parisalexa also flexed her vocal talents on “What Do We Do” a track from Xavier Omär & Sango’s latest offering Moments Spent Loving You.
