As we near the start of March, the focus of the television world is being geared toward the release of HBO’s Leaving Neverland documentary. The HBO film first made major waves following the release of Surviving R. Kelly by receiving a standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival. From there, Michael Jackson’s estate vehemently denied all accusations made by those in the film and threatened to sue HBO for $100 million. Most recently, all parties involved in the matter revealed that they would be doing interviews with CBS This Morning. With less than two weeks until the film’s worldwide release, there’s not much left to be said. However, Oprah Winfrey may think differently.
Oprah will be hosting a television special called After Neverland. Airing on HBO and the OWN Network, Oprah will sit down for a Q&A with the film’s director and the two men who have accused Jackson of sexual abuse. The special will be taped on Thursday in front of an audience of sexual abuse survivors and air on March 4th following the conclusion of the documentary. In addition the discussion will also be recorded as a part of Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations podcast.
