One week ago, Offset and Quavo shocked viewers around the world with their performance at the 2023 BET Awards. Standing on stage together for the first time in months, the duo performed “Hotel Lobby” and “Bad and Boujee” as they mourned the death and celebrated the life of Kirsnick “Takeoff” Ball. Days after the award show, Offset said the performance “cleared his soul.”
“And we do that because we some real stars,” he said when discussing the performance.
“We do this music. We the greatest group to ever touch the mic. RIP my brother Take. We did it for my brother Take. Me and Quay, stood tall, brother-to-brother… and I appreciate everyone for supporting [us]. It was a movie, it was a vibe. We needed that for the culture.”
As he reflected further, Offset revealed that the performance came together in less than 24 hours. According to him, Offset and Quavo finalized the set design, visuals and music in approximately 16 hours. Not long thereafter, Offset returned to the stage to perform with fellow Atlanta rapper Young Nudy. Moving forward, he’s also preparing to release his second solo album. However, it’s unclear if Quavo will be involved in the direction of the project.
