Kiari “Offset” Cephus is set to judge and executive produce a new streetwear competition show called The Hype. Led by the producers of Queer Eye, the series will chronicle the lives of 10 streetwear designers as they compete in a series of challenges.
The GRAMMY-nominee will work alongside a star-studded team of entertainment leaders. Bephies Beauty Supply Founder Bethy Birkett and famed costume designer Marni Senofonte will work as judges on the show. Meanwhile, podcast host and journalist Speedy Morman will host the HBO Max series.
Behind the scenes, Emmy-winner Rikki Hughes will work as the showrunner. Jay Brown and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith of Roc Nation will also work as executive producers. Not to mention, Sarah Aubrey of HBO Max will help bring the show to a streaming platform near you.
“We see the ubiquitous influence of streetwear culture all around us – from high fashion and popular culture, to a form of individual self-expression and identity. We are excited to embark on this journey to find the next great streetwear designer with our partners at Scout, Jay Brown and Ty Ty Smith,” Aubrey said.
“I feel like the show Hype was created with creatives like myself in mind. I’m happy to not only be a co-signer for the show but a producer. We are giving opportunities to the culture,” Offset added.
